Moving Forward, Not Perfect: A Message from Willetta Snell
"I believe some of the most successful people are not the ones who learn the fastest, they are the ones who refuse to stop learning."
— Willetta Snell, Founder
Long before I became a classroom teacher, I became a mother to my two children, Lauren and Mason. Being a parent deepened my understanding of how children learn, how families navigate complex educational systems, and how important it is for parents to have a trusted guide they can rely on.
I know firsthand that learning is rarely a straight line, and navigating the educational system can feel overwhelming. That conviction didn’t come from a textbook, it came from my own life. Growing up, learning did not come easily to me, and I deeply understand the frustration of sitting at a desk feeling left behind. It wasn't until later in life that I explicitly learned how to study, focus, and persist through academic hurdles. Discovering my own potential later than expected is what drives me to ensure no child feels stuck or invisible in the classroom today.
As an educator, literacy advocate, and the founder of Thrive Forward, I provide specialized Elementary Academic Support across Gwinnett & Metro Atlanta, Georgia. My mission isn't just to help your child get through their next homework assignment; it is to unlock their potential, build their confidence, and give them the 1:1 Literacy Support, targeted Phonics and Vocabulary skills, and lifelong tools they need to learn, grow, and move forward.
Empowering learners. Expanding futures.
Targeted 1:1 Literacy Support for Georgia Students
Literacy is more than just reading instruction—literacy is access, confidence, and freedom. Drawing from my extensive classroom experience teaching Kindergarten through Third Grade, and backed by my specialized Georgia Literacy Certification, I design custom learning plans that meet your child exactly where they are.
1:1 Literacy Support: Your child is unique. My private sessions are built around their specific strengths and learning differences, providing a dignified, respectful space where competence and confidence grow together.
Foundational Reading and Writing: Having taught Kindergarten for years, I love the magic moment when letters become sounds and sounds become stories. I explicitly teach the core mechanics of literacy to set your child up for long-term school success.
Phonics and Vocabulary: From my time teaching Third Grade, I know how easily gaps can compound when students transition from learning to read to reading to learn. We dive deep into systematic Phonics and Vocabulary development to help multilingual learners, students with learning differences, and those below grade level close the gap.
From the Classroom to Your Community: Deep Roots in Georgia Education
My path into education began in 2018 as a Special Education Paraprofessional, where I learned the deep value of individualized, flexible instruction. I later served as a Parent Liaison, discovering that educational programs are only as strong as the partnership between schools and families.
Today, while balancing full-time teaching and parenting, I continue to advance my own expertise through the University of Georgia’s Master of Arts in Teaching program. Thrive Forward was born out of this intersection of everything I have learned as a student, mother, teacher, and researcher. I understand the changes in school standards, curriculum, and policies in Georgia, and I am here to be the trusted guide you and your child deserve.
Whether your child is a local Duluth Kindergartener discovering letters for the first time, a Third Grader navigating complex texts, or a Ninth grader who never learned to write in cursive, progress is completely within reach. We do not aim for perfection or comparison, we aim for forward movement.
